Mia Goyette – Tbilisi Residencies/Stamba
Propaganda’s residency program, Tbilisi Residencies/Stamba is hosting a Berlin-based American artist, Mia Goyette.
Mias multidisciplinary practice includes sculpture, installation, and writing. Utilitarian objects, body parts displaced from the body, and evocations of the natural world repeat often in her work, wavering unsteadily between function and decay. The scenes constructed depict the fringes of the environments we build, and construct a narrative where material longevity is pitted against human mortality. Goyette graduated from the Cooper Union School of Art (NYC) in 2011.
Recent exhibitions include Time Adverbs (Centro, Madrid), Latemodel Picturesque (Galerie Luis Campaña, Berlin), Produktion: Made in Germany 3 (Kunstverein Hannover, Hannover), Gestures of Tomorrow (Kunstverein Nürnberg, Nuremberg).
